Justice by Emily Conrad | Book Review

If ever a book could be deemed “Inspirational Fiction” Justice is. This story is so filled with faith, grace, redemption, and forgiveness that it leaves you gently convicted. The way Brooklyn was able to forgive her attacker, while the man who truly loves and respects her desires justice, will leave you turning page after page.

Did you ever read “The Atonement Child” by Francine Rivers? An amazing read. Both books are amazing stories of God making beauty from ashes. From brokenness. If you loved the Atonement Child, you will love Justice. I do.

Back Cover

Jake thought he was meant to marry Brooklyn, but now she’s pregnant, and he had nothing to do with it.

As Brooklyn wrestles with questions about what her pregnancy means and how it will affect her relationship with Jake, she can’t bring herself to tell him the truth.

To make matters worse, if the man who owns the bookstore across from Jake’s coffee shop, has anything to do with it, the baby will ruin them both.

Can Jake and Brooklyn overcome the obstacles thrown in their path, and finally find the truth in God’s love and in each other?

My Review

A baby is conceived through an assault on a woman who has gone above and beyond to remain pure.

Brooklyn never even wanted to marry. She was left broken from her own childhood, now, here she was. A single mom.

But God.

Warning… spoilers ahead.

Booklyn can’t find a way to tell Jake, the man who has loved Brooklyn and has waited for her, the truth. He knows she is pregnant. But he doesn’t know who the father is.

Truth be told, she doesn’t either.

God reveals to Jake in a dream what has happened to Brooklyn, and he commits to being there for her through it all. Finally, it seems, the two will be able to marry and be a family.

But when Jake is overcome with anger and unforgiveness toward Brooklyn’s attacker, as well as a man that is intending on destroying Jake’s business, Brooklyn chooses to walk away. You’ll have to read this story to know the outcome.

I can’t say for you, but I had a hard time putting this book down. It brought me to tears. Well written, great storyline, powerful message.

I met Emily Conrad at a writer’s conference back in September of last year, and she has become a friend. But it is not because she’s a friend that I give this book a 5 out of 5. My rating might have something to do with a job I had in my early 20’s. I was an administrative assistant at a Crisis Pregnancy Centre. In my time there, God gave me a heart for both mother and baby. Justice promotes both.

I do hope you pick up a copy of this book. On amazon.ca you can grab your kindle version for .99! I don’t know how long that price will hold, so buy your copy today!

Reading your review, Amy, left me wanting to read Justice, it sounds like a really inspirational and suspenseful read! One of my favourite kind of stories is to see redemption, healing, forgiveness and in the mix a bright future for the main characters! It sounds so powerful! Love Mom!
