The Bird of Bedford Manor by Michelle Griep | Review

Christian historical fiction fans who love mystery and the regency era, this one is for you!

Check out the back cover, followed by my review.

Back Cover

In 1820 Bedfordshire, Juliet Finch survives by wit, skill, and secrecy after her father’s disgrace leaves her alone and hunted by circumstance. When she’s caught poaching on the estate of the formidable Henry Russell, he offers an uneasy bargain: help him track the shadowy figure tormenting his sister, and her crime will be forgiven. As Juliet follows the trail, danger closes in, buried truths surface, and an unexpected attraction complicates every step—until Juliet must decide whether trusting Henry will save her…or cost her everything.

My Review

This book has a lot of my favorite things … romance, faith, historical setting, danger, and mystery. The back cover intrigued me, as I love a story of the penniless heroine surviving against all odds, especially when she has a kind heart. Naturally, Juliet is a very interesting character and easy to cheer for.

I liked Henry’s protective nature but sometimes it verged on obsessive. He wasn’t my favorite hero, but his redemptive arc was right on and he also had a big heart.

Preorder your copy from amazon.ca and amazon.com (and there’s a preorder sale with Baker Book House currently as I post this), among other retailers. The Bird of Bedford Manor releases from Barbour Fiction February 1, 2026.

4 stars from me!

Thank you to Barbour Fiction and Netgalley for my copy. All opinions in this review are my own.
