Trust | A Devotional

Have you ever had a season filled with faith-stretching? A distinct wilderness season?

A wilderness season often feels like God is silent, or at least very quiet.

Yet, He calls to us, “Trust me.”

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5,6 NKJV

Trusting God requires faith. Trusting God with the HUGE thing requires HUGE . . .

Wait. No. That’s not what the Bible says. It doesn’t say that big miracles require huge faith, does it?

No, it requires just a mustard seed of it.

So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

Matthew 17:20 NKJV

God is strong, He is faithful, He is wise. More than we can ever fathom.

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

1 Corinthians 1:25 NKJV

Do you see that? His weakness is still stronger than men.

I’ve been thinking about folks like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego a lot. These men had crazy trust in their God. They would not bow when told to bow. They would not stop praying when told to stop.

They would not worship any other God but the one true God.

What if

What would have happened without these 4 righteous men who trusted the strength, wisdom and power of God Almighty?

I’m not just talking about the miracle of God saving their lives (read about it in the book of Daniel)—I’m talking about how the stand they each took changed the face of their nation. And the favor they received because they wouldn’t give into intimidation.

Do they have more faith than you and me?

Trust and Believe

Maybe the miracle you’re trusting and believing God for isn’t as dire as being saved from the mouths of lions or what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were about to face—is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?

But do you believe that your miracle and your burdens matter to God? Big or small?

Friends, our God is mighty . . .

The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice;
The floods lift up their waves.
The Lord on high is mightier
Than the noise of many waters,
Than the mighty waves of the sea.

Psalm 93:3,4 NKJV

And He’s able to do more than we could ever ask or think.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Ephesians 3:20 NKJV.
